Update: January 30, 2024
PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING
When: Thursday, February 8, 2024 - 6:30pm to 8:00pm
Presentation begins at 7:00pm
Where: Commons Room (Atrium) at Pemberton Secondary School, 1400 Oak Street, Pemberton BC
The community is invited to view and listen as Village staff and the applicants of the Nkwukwma project present the latest draft of the Sub Area Plan and the draft Official Community Plan and Zoning Amendment Bylaws, related to this application. This is an important step as this project nears the bylaw approvals process. Any comments will be collected and will be summarized as part of the public consultation activities for this application.
Background
The Nkwúkwma Sub-Area Plan has been prepared in response to an Official Community Plan Amendment and rezoning application by Skénkenam Limited Partnership on lands formerly known as the Benchlands.
In 2007 the Village of Pemberton initiated the Benchlands Neighbourhood Plan process, which led to the ultimate designation of the land as Residential Neighbourhoods in the Official Community Plan and Residential Single (Detached RS-1) zoning. The lands have since been purchased by a subsidiary of Líl̓wat Nation and the Sub Area Plan represents a revised approach to the development of the land with a broader mix of residential uses, but a similar density of up to 450 dwellings.
The Sub-Area Plan will be a schedule to the Village of Pemberton Official Community Plan and apply new policy guidance and development permit area guidelines specific to the lands and the proposed development.
The first draft of the Sub-Area plan has been released for public review. To submit comment use the comments section below or email developmentservices @ pemberton.ca
